Harlequin Tango

This acrylic on wood illustration began as a quick sketch that sat nestled in a folder of loose drawings until I plucked it out and put it to work.
My original sketches are usually more energetic than their 'complete' translations, but they get closer to spirit each time.

I started this piece last summer and worked on it sporadically until a few months ago. I'm mostly happy with it, but I have a way of getting impatient with large projects. I'll be a happier artist when I learn to cope with that. Overall, I'm satisfied with the result, although I always end up trying to draw when I paint.
